Your Tasks
- Ability to design inlet and exhaust systems having demanding acoustics and low aerodynamic losses.
- Support Application Engineering and Sales with proposals, customer and site visits as needed.
- Support Sales on customer and site visits as needed; effectively communicate issues with customers.
- Review, assess and evaluate customer requirements and specifications for product application; provide feedback about any issues that impact feasibility or design development.
- Assist in field failures to understand failure mechanism and root cause - perform measurements, investigations, analysis, and inspections including technical reports and rework solutions as needed.
- Provide technical leadership in supporting new product development initiatives.
- Research, track and report on regulations and technologies affecting business.
- Participate and conduct in-house technical seminars educating other engineers and staff in acoustic and aerodynamic designs.
- Maintain and advance predictive modeling tools and update as needed.
- Publish technical papers in journals and similar media, present at technical forums and conferences.
- Travel approximately 15%
Your Skills
- B. S. degree in Physics or Engineering with a focus in Industrial Acoustics or Noise Control.
- M.S. or Ph.D. degree is preferred.
- Minimum 3 years Noise and Vibration Control Engineering, experience with HVAC acoustics and silencer design is preferred.
- Design of reactive and absorptive exhaust and ducting components to meet aero-acoustic requirements.
- Proficient use of MS Excel. Additional experience with 3D solid modeling is preferred.
- Signal processing, developing analytical program using engineering tools such as MATLAB is a plus.
- Use of acoustic measurement instruments in collecting sound data in the field, vibration instrumentation and experience with pressure transducers and accelerometers.
- Working experience in Finite Element Analysis.
- CFD and thermal analysis experience is a plus.
Physical Demands
- This position requires the ability to visit industrial sites, perform inspections, climb stair and ladders, carry instrumentation when necessary.
- Occasionally work from heights - aerial lifts, platforms, mezzanines, roofs - to perform measurements.
